Welcome to the web site of JP Pollak, PhD, an information scientist researching Human-Computer Interaction and mobile technology in healthcare and the life sciences. I study how mobile technology can be used to both encourage healthy behaviors and collect large quantities of contextually relevant health data. My current research involves developing mobile phone apps to track emotion, stress, and daily health behaviors in large populations and examining those data in the context of health outcomes, social network properties, and job performance.

New: For some reason, there has been a substantial recent increase in the number of inquiries about Lineage, the pedigree visualization and analysis software I wrote almost 10 years ago. This software hasn't been supported or for sale in years (nor will it be), but I'm going to make Lineage freely available on this site for a while and see what happens.
